With SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC) and SAP Business Planning and Consolidation (BPC) we offer two sophisticated planning tools – one quite new and state of the art, cloud based product (SAC) and one well established on-premise product (BPC), already available since several years. With our hybrid approach (BPC live connection) SAC can use BPC data and planning technology with a live connection – thus it is possible to build state of the art planning solutions combining the modern and user centric front end technology of SAC stories and applications (built with Analytics Designer) with the powerful BW-based engine of BPC.

For coordinating a BPC based planning process we offer the so-called Business Process Flows (BPF) in BPC. In a BPF you always have a driving dimension that determines who is responsible for a certain step and which data this person should be working on (context of the step). The context of a step is automatically used when the owner calls a BPC application (the data is restricted to the context of the step). When an SAC application is called from a BPF step we need to do a little extra work in order to make sure that the context is used properly.

We have described these steps in a paper. Click here to download the full document.
